 Registration and Licensing:
What is the procedure of registering Cafe Manager Pro? 
When you install Cafe Manager Pro it will produce a unique Serial Number. You can see this number on Registration window when you start Cafe Manager Pro.
In order to register Cafe Manager Pro:
- If you are already registered user of Cafe Manager Pro please send Serial Number and your registration details (Registration name, or Order reference No, or email address used for registration) License Key will be emailed to you within two working days.
Please note, if you require more that one license you need to send Serial Numbers for every installation.
- If you are a new user simply use online registration form to purchase Cafe Manager Pro license. 
Can I get Cafe Manger Pro and Screen Shield on CD
- No. We operate only through e-mail

 How I can upgrade number of client licenses and what do I have to pay?
- If you would like to upgrade existing clients license to a greater number please contact us and we will provide you with necessarily information. You will need to pay only the difference between your current license and the desired one.
I'm a registered user of Cafe Manager Pro (previous versions) do I have to pay for the upgrade to Cafe Manager Pro (latest version) ?
For currently registered users of Cafe Manager Pro all upgrade to new versions of Cafe Manager Pro is absolutely voluntarily and free of charge.
 Installation and configuration:
Do you support thin clients, laptop customers or game consoles?
- You can use Cafe Manager to monitor time and produce charges for anything: renting thin clients, laptop connection, pool table or gaming console. In this case Cafe Manager works as a comprehensive stop-watch charge-calculator.

If you do not install Screen Shield on client systems (thin clients, customers laptops, games consoles) then Cafe Manager can only track time and produce charges for those clients. 
When Screen Shield installed on the clients then you can Lock, Unlock, Restart, Shutdown those system by the signal from Cafe Manager. Screen Shield can only be installed on Windows based systems and can be operated either by IP Address or Network Path (mapped drives) connection modes. 
  
Do you support wireless communication?
- To effectively manage customers access to computers we recommend to install Screen Shield (our free client-side software). In this case Cafe Manager can automatically lock/unlock client PCs. If you have wireless network with your own client computers - then CafeManager and Screen Shield work exactly the same way as in wired network. Cafe Manager will track time, produce charge and unlock client system when customer ready to start and lock when time is up. Just install Screen Shield on your client computers and configure Cafe Manager to connect to clients (IP address or Network Path)
In case of wireless network with access points only (i.e. customers uses their own computers, laptops) you cannot use (install) Screen Shield. In this situation Cafe Manager can be used only to track time and produce charges. Cafe Manager will not be able to lock/unlock client PCs. It is assumed that customer will notify member of staff before connecting to the network.
This situation is similar to that with gaming consoles. Screen Shield cannot be installed on XBox or PlayStation.
   
Can Cafe Manager be configured to work with a cash register
- No. Cafe Manager does not have an interface for any sort of hardware devices.
  
Can I use any currency in the Cafe Manager? 
- Yes. In Cafe Manager you can use a currency different from Windows default currency. You can enter any currency sign in Tools> CM Configuration menu. Program will use that symbol. 
 
Do I have to install Cafe Manager on my Network Server? 
- No. You can install Cafe Manager on a separate PC and if you are not using Shield this PC doesn't have to be connected to the network at all. Basically Cafe Manager would be installed on PC at your reception or cash-desk. Simple scheme of Cafe Manager installation could be found here.
If you want to use Shield, you have to make sure at least one is true:
1. You have a static IP addresses for every client PC. If you do not have a server and use only a router, please check with device manual, can you have a static IP address.
2. You can map a network drive to the every client PC from the system where Cafe Manager is installed. 
Is it possible to reinstall Cafe Manager Pro on a different PC and use same License Key? 
No. License Key is unique for the system where Cafe Manager is installed
  
What if I need to reinstall Cafe Manager Pro on the same system? 
- For registered users:
When you reinstall Cafe Manager Pro on the same system it may revert back to evaluation mode. It this case, simple install License Key again. 
  
If I install Cafe Manager on a server can it connect to the Internet and monitor Internet activity of customers? 
- No. Cafe Manager does not have any interaction with network server and it does not performs any of the server or proxy tasks.
  
What if my system got corrupt and I would need to reinstall whole operating system? 
For registered users:
After you re-install OS, Cafe Manager may produce a different Serial Number. In this case original License Key will not work. Please contact Technical support with details about your registration and the new Serial Number. After details are validated new License Key will be emailed back to you.
If Serial Number is the same - please install License Key you have for this Serial Number
What is the maximum number of computers I can use in Cafe Manager? 
- Any number you like up to 999. Please Note: Maximum recommended number is 100.
In Cafe Manager go to Tools>CM Configuration menu, select General tab and simply type in number of PC in a space provided. Click Apply.
There is only one limitation based on your machine configuration and Operating System resources. Depending on OS resources and amount of background programs running, you may have problems loading a large number of PC-Panels. You may receive one of the following messages:
"Could not load [Number of PC specified] , would you like to load [Possible number of PC panels]"
or
"Failed to load control [name of control], your version of [name of control] may be out of date"
You can either change number of client PCs (consider to purchase a second copy of Cafe Manager and run it on a separate system) or install Cafe Manager on Windows NT/2000/XP as it more resourceful than W95/98
What are dependency files? 
- Think of dependency files as of drivers for your graphic or sound card. As a name suggests, functionality of the program depends on these files. In fact, not only Cafe Manager may be depended on those files and therefore you may already have them installed. We separated core program's files from dependency files so you don't have to spend time on downloading them again.
 General
In evaluation version can I access all features of the program? 
- Yes. All features of Cafe Manager Pro are enabled during 20 days evaluation period. Time to time you will see a 15 seconds delay notification message when using evaluation version.
  
I forgot a password for CM Configuration menu in Cafe Manager. Can it be retrieved somehow? 
You can download default Configuration database file where Admin password is set to: 1
You need to unzip and copy (and overwrite existing) cmdb21.mdb file in Cafe Manager Pro/Dll folder.
When I try to access CM Configuration menu it asks for Admin password. What should I do? 
- When you first time access Cm Configuration menu, program will ask you to create Admin password.
You should see a Logon dialog box with Admin word grayed-out and you cannot make any other selection from a drop-down box.
Simply type word you would like to use as a password and click OK.
You can change password and create another logon accounts in CM Configuration menu on a Logons tab.

- You can download default Configuration database file where Admin password is set to: 1
You need to unzip and copy (and overwrite existing) cmdb21.mdb file in Cafe Manager Pro/Dll folder.
I'm not able to control Shield on some of the workstations? 
Please check following:
 - Screen Shield is actually running on the client systems. You should see a shield icon in the System Try
 - Screen Shield (in Shield setup Wizard) and Cafe Manager (in CM Configuration menu) have the same Network Connection mode selected.
 - In Cafe Manager in Shield Config. menu please check that connection settings are right i.e. either IP Address exists or Network Path is correct.

If you are using Network Path connection mode, please make sure that folder where you have Shield installed is shared and have Read/Write access rights. (more...)
In IP address connection mode try to restart Shield.
I'm getting following message "Unable to connect to the Shield on <IP Adddress>"? 
This message indicates that Cafe Manager cannot find Screen Shield on specified IP address.
- Make sure that you have enter correct IP Address in Cafe Manager (Tools Shield Connections menu or Tools CM Configuration menu, Screen Shield tab)
- Please check that you do have this IP Address allocated to the client system and system is not shutdown or restarting.
- Please check that Screen Shield is running on that system. You should see a shield icon in the system tray.
- Please check that Screen Shield (in Set-up Wizard) is set to use IP Address as well as Cafe Manager (in Tools CM Configuration, Screen Shield tab)
- Some of your network configuration settings prevent Cafe Manager from successfully resolving the IP address.
  
Can Cafe Manager automatically keep track on how many pages customer has printed
- No. The number of printouts to be included into the final charge has to be entered into Cafe Manager by a member of staff.
  
How I can improve system performance? 
Following may affect program performance:

- Number of applications running on Cafe Manager system at the same time. Some programs can leave background tasks running
- Number of days Cafe Manager was running without restarting. Recommended to restart program at least once a day. (If your cafe open 24 hours it is necessarily to restart program at around midnight in order to create a new log file, unless you specified otherwise in CM Configuration Menu) 
- Number of days PC was left running without restarting. Recommended to restart system at least once a day, especially if system used by other applications.
- If Cafe Manager has many* busy PC-panels in Pre-Paid mode.
*many - depends on the system specification plus all the above.
PC-Panel in Pre-Paid mode requires more system recourses. 
Is it possible to have a sequential Invoice number printed on a receipt?
- In Cafe Manager Pro 3.5 the receipt Number is configured through File/Page Setup menu or in Tools/CM Configuration menu.
- For Cafe Manager Pro 3.4.1 and lower:
 It is possible only if you are using MS Excel receipt templates provided with Cafe Manager Pro.
Please check Cafe Manager Pro/Dll folder for the ReceiptNumbers.zip file. If file is not there you can download it.
The Zip file contains new receipt templates with macros for the sequential Invoice Number and ReadMe.txt file with instructions on what you need to do.
 I've got an error
I've got error 339 : "Component <name of the file> or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"? 
- Please download and install ComRunTime.exe One of the dependency files is not installed on you system.
ComRunTime.exe will isntall common Windows files. 
I've got an error 372 "Failed to load CAMA14.ocx. Make sure that you are using version of the control provided with your application"? 
Please install ComRunTime.exe from Download section. Select link for the appropriate product.
When start the program I get the following error message: 75 00/modCM_CodeShare:AppendData Path/File access error.  
This problem is fixed in CMPro 3.4
For older versions please do following:
- In Cafe Manager Pro directory find and delete log file with a name as a current date (e.g. 21-06-01.txt)
- If you have selected to make a copy of a log file in Cafe Manager Options menu, then find and delete copy of log file too. It will have name as a date as well but with "log" suffix (e.g. 21-06-01log.txt)
- Run Cafe Manager Pro again.
I'm getting "Type Mismatch" error
- If you are using program on non-English version of Windows you may need to adjust your Regional Settings. Following may help you to correct this problem: 
go to Start Menu >Control Panel and double click on Regional Settings.
- On the Number tab please change Decimal Symbol to a dot "."
- On the Date tab change Date separator to "/"
- On the Time tab change Time separator to ":"
Every time I try to pick a date using the calendar button, I get an error message:

'-2147417848(80010108)'
Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients? 
- Cause:
The problem is relative to the Calendar control (Mscal.ocx) not being properly registered. This can occur with Windows XP when Windows XP Service Pack 1 is not installed. 

Remedy #1:
Install or Re-install Windows XP Service Pack 1 to resolve this problem 

Remedy #2:
Download CalendarFix-v11.zip. Unzip file and run CalendarFix-v11.EXE to install latest available version of Mscal.ocx (version 11).

 Reports
Does Cafe Manager have some sort of report generation? 
- Cafe Manager Pro has integrated reports functionality. You can access it in Cafe Manager Pro from View menu or click on CM Reports button on a toolbar. You can also run Reports from Windows Start/Programs/Cafe Manager Pro menu. Reports are created based on the log files produced by the program. Log file has format of a standard comma separated text file. You can also import it to MS Access or MS Excel and create reports from there. For more information see help for MS Access or MS Excel
 
Why I cannot see any log files I need to import in order to create some reports? 
- Cafe Manager creates log files in the date format. For example:
"02-06-2001.txt" log file for 2nd of July 2001. 
Reports can be generated based on past log files. You can not generate report for a current day and you will not see log file for the current day in the Import log files window.
 Membership database
Can I use Barcode reader/scanner in CM Members database? 
- Please see Tips and Tricks section
  
Does your system accept the use of magnetic card readers for time loading? 
- Unfortunately Cafe Manager doesn't use Magnetic card readers
  
Can CM Members database keep track on how much time and money member spent in my cafe
 - Yes. This information can be displayed "live" during work with Cafe Manager Pro and later you can view this statistic in reports
  
I wanted to know if there is a way that several cyber cafes running your software could share the same CM Members database.?
- There is no in-build automated procedure for this but there is a way. Please see Tips & Tricks section for any of Cafe Manager products
  
I cannot access the membership database. The only thing I can see is a small box at the bottom of the screen as if a program is running, and it says "Quick Start" but I cannot maximize it?
- Close Cafe Manager Pro and Membership database (through Alt-Ctr-Del if box is at the bottom of the screen)
- Please go to Registry to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\MemDBService\2.0\Settings 
- change "StartUpForm" value to 2
- Start Membership database again. 
I cannot correctly enter amount greater than 999 to the members account?
